Transition 5.0 and PV sector: a talk about field professional tools in Vicenza

An event organized together with Energy SpA, Fronius and Schneider Electric, with a wealth of informative sessions, insights and networking opportunities, in the sign of energy innovation

An entire day to delve into and share reflections and information on the Italian Government's Plan to support the energy and digital transition in companies. “Transition 5.0 and PV sector: tools for field professionals” was the focus of the event for sector experts we held on 2 October in Vicenza, along with Energy SpA, Fronius and Schneider Electric, all active in this field.

It was the perfect occasion to focus on the perspective and opportunities the Plan offers, through a EUR 6.3 billion funding to Italian companies. Companies eligible for funding must be based in the Italian territory, and, between 1 January 2024 and 31 December 2025, must make new investments in innovation projects that ensure an avoidance of energy consumption of at least 3% in their production facilities, or a reduction in energy consumption of at least 5% for the processes concerned by the investment.

A day of debates on the new Plan's value

The event also provided a chance to discuss the European PV context, and the impact of the new measures on the national and European market, with specific focus on the technical-legal aspects and on the consequent solutions at commercial and industrial level. The event, through informative sessions and insights, along with practical and concrete examples, touched upon specific topics linked to the Transition Plan 5.0, concerning the photovoltaic and storage sector.

The day began at 10 am, and was filled with many opportunities for discussion and food for thought, with Gruppo 360's Director responsible for Innovation Post, Franco Canna, as moderator, who, during the opening ceremony, highlighted how "from a practical standpoint, the Transition Plan 5.0's real added value concerns significant investments in instrumental assets, or big investments in the power-related portion of the Plan, such as renewable energy sources and training".

Stefano Fili - Service R&D Manager for international consultancy firm Leyton - and Erica Bianconi - Design Engineer and Consultant at EGE UNI 11339 - covered the topic “From the Transition 5.0 Decree's Guiding Principles to the Operative Procedures”. "The purpose of this Plan - said Bianconi - is to relocated photovoltaic energy production back to Europe. We need to diversify production, so that everyone can produce, in our globalized world; and, what's more, we cannot all depend on a single Country. Avoiding this situation is exactly our goal, along with driving technology, its production, and the related know-how back to Europe, also to promote the creation of new jobs."

Then, the floor went to the manufacturing companies, with Massimiliano Francone, our Head of Marketing & Sales, Dario Brambilla, VP Strategic Marketing, Influence & Digital Transformation for Schneider Electric, Matteo Poffe, Fronius Italia CEO, and Davide Tinazzi, Co-Founder and CEO of Energy SpA, who had the chance to debate on the topic “Transition 5.0 as a Development Opportunity for the Sector: Key Success Factors”

In his speech, Francone emphasized the path that will lead to our company becoming the largest module and cell factory in Europe, and highlighted the importance of technological production in the Old Continent: "No one is currently producing cells in Europe. And to bring Europe back to the centre of the photovoltaic market, we need to make significant R&D investments. At 3SUN, we are pursuing this goal, first by developing and industrializing the HJT technology, and now by deploying the new Tandem, along with French research centre CEA-INES, which will allow us to reach even higher efficiency levels, and cross the 30% mark. A true market revolution."

The companies that will foster this change

With the goal of discussing the Plan's specific topics first hand, through practical and concrete examples, we opened the afternoon sessions with our Themed Workshops, and a speech by our Head of Product Management, Paolo di Lorenzo, who talked about our role in Transition 5.0, by addressing the topic "More Energy, More Value: How 3SUN Modules Can Enhance your Transition 5.0", from a practical standpoint. This session was useful to understand how the Plan's funding can be accessed, through a tax credit system, and our highly-performing 'made in Europe' modules.

Schneider Electric's workshop was called, "Connected Solutions for Power Distribution Infrastructures", while Fronius unfolded its plans in "Fronius Solutions for Transition 5.0. Made in EU as a Quality Guarantee in Products and Services." Lastly, Energy Spa showcased its commitment as "Manufacturer of Made-in-Italy Storage Systems".
