3SUN in the ENEA Register: an important contribution to the national and European photovoltaic industry
3SUN marks a new step on its path to 'Made in Europe' excellence:
the 3SUN B60LE module has been added to section a) of the Photovoltaic Technology Register established by ENEA. An important recognition that reaffirms the commitment to promoting a sustainable transition and a highly efficient production model, in line with European objectives.
Produced at the Catania Gigafactory, the module stands out for its territorial and performance characteristics, and meets the minimum 21.5% efficiency requirement required for inclusion in the ENEA Register.
The ENEA Register, promoting European technological excellence
The Photovoltaic Module Register is a platform established by ENEA (National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Development), with the aim of certifying photovoltaic modules produced in EU Member States that meet strict efficiency and quality standards.
Introduced by Article 12 of Legislative Decree No. 181/2023 and amended by Article 1(6) of Legislative Decree No. 113/2024, the creation of the Register is a fundamental step forward to promote advanced and sustainable photovoltaic technologies, facilitating the energy transition and strengthening the European photovoltaic industrial chain.
The Register only considers modules produced in the EU, and is divided into three main sections: modules with at least 21.5% module-level conversion efficiency; modules and cells with at least 23.5%, and modules with bifacial heterojunction or tandem cells with at least 24% of efficiency. In the case of sections b) and c), the cell must also be produced in the EU.
The Transition 5.0 Plan and the role of 3SUN
3SUN's registration in the platform is further proof of our commitment to the European photovoltaic module production scene. This is not only a technical achievement, but also a strategic one. Indeed, the 3SUN B60LE module fully contributes to the Transition 5.0 Plan.
A key measure of the NRRP, Transition 5.0 promotes technological innovation and energy sustainability, and supports Italian companies in the transition towards more efficient, renewable energy-based and environmentally friendly production processes. With a total of EUR 6.3 billion allocated, the Plan provides for a tax credit for companies that make new investments in technology and infrastructure, to ensure a reduction in energy consumption of at least 3% at production structure level, or 5% at individual process level. In the context of innovation projects aimed at self-generation of energy, the incentive is limited to plants that use products listed in the ENEA Register and provides an incentive bonus.
3SUN at the service of businesses
Our module is perfectly in line with these objectives, and represents a state-of-the-art solution for the energy transition of companies. Its efficiency allows us to guarantee maximum economic and environmental benefits, once again confirming 3SUN as one of the virtuous companies, capable of actively contributing to the energy transition, and favouring a more sustainable future.
